How To Clean All-Clad Cookware

Cleaning All-Clad cookware can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. While the process is fairly straightforward, there are some things you should know before attempting your first clean. What is All-Clad?

All-Clad is a family of related cookware brands. Each series consists of similar but different lines that are made of aluminum or stainless steel, or utilize some combination of the two materials. The three most popular All-Clad series are the original All-Clad Stainless, All-Clad d5, and All-Clad MC2.

All-Clad was founded in 1971 when two chemists, Vincent and Mary DeGiorgio, created a cookware company that utilizes bonded metals to create pans with enhanced heat distribution and resistance to corrosion. All-Clad is based out of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania where they still produce cookware in their factory.

Why is All-Clad So Popular?

All-Clad became popular because of its durable design and ease of cleaning. The bonded metals create a pan where the surface acts as an outer layer to slow corrosion, while the interior remains uncoated so that food will not stick to it. This means you do not need to season your pans and they will not corrode over time. Food also does not stick to the surface of All-Clad, and it can be cleaned easily with a non-abrasive sponge and warm water.

What is All-Clad Made of?

All-Clad features a bonded metal construction. This means the outside surface is stainless steel, while the interior is aluminum for even heat distribution. All-clad products are fully clad with either stainless steel or aluminum on both the bottom and up the sides of each piece. The majority of All-clad pans have an exterior magnetic stainless steel exterior with an aluminum core. The stainless steel exterior provides the best cooking surface, while the aluminum core increases heat distribution and prevents hot spots. Some All-Clad products use a fully clad tri-ply design where aluminum is bonded to two layers of stainless steel on both sides of the pan. This allows for even heat distribution and precise control over the cooking process.

How To Clean All-Clad Cookware In The Dishwasher?

All-Clad should not be washed in the dishwasher. However, if you choose to do so, make sure it is on its own rack and never with other metals such as silverware which may scratch your All-clad cookware.

If you don’t have enough time to clean your All-Clad by hand, the dishwasher is the best solution for you. However, you should pay attention to some details about how to put it into the dishwasher.

  • Firstly: An all-Clad pan is not recommended to be with other metals in the dishwasher, which may scratch it up seriously. Or if your spouse insists on putting them together, please make sure the All-Clad cookware is on the top shelf.
  • Secondly: make sure to run a cold water cycle without any soap or detergent in order to rinse them off before the heated wash. This will avoid corrosion of All-clad cookware, especially when they are still wet after rinsing with warm water.
  • Thirdly: avoid overload your dishwasher. All-clad pans are not cheap; you should pay more attention to how to clean them. Besides, there is an advice of using liquid soap instead of powder one for it may be hard to rinse the suds off afterward. If you choose powder, you’d better dissolve first before adding to the heated wash.
  • Fourthly: run a normal heated dry cycle if you use the dishwasher to clean All-Clad pans. If without a dishwasher, just wipe them with a wet cloth or sponge before cooking. Remember that stainless steel exteriors are very easy to be oxidized but not rust.

How To Clean All-Clad Cookware By Hand?

All-clad cookware is very easy to clean since it comes with a non-stick surface. If food does stick, simply soak for a few minutes and then use a non-abrasive sponge to clean it away. After you are done cleaning, do not forget to dry it thoroughly with a clean dishtowel.

1. Remove any visible food particles from your cookware with a soft dishcloth or sponge. Rinse well under warm water if there are visible particles stuck to the pan.

4. Wash the pan with a clean sponge or cloth to remove any soap residue. Dry immediately when finished so rust doesn’t form from excess moisture in your All-Clad Cookware.

5. Place a few paper towels into the empty pan and allow it to stand for several hours. The towels will absorb any moisture that forms inside the pan over time.

6. Repeat these steps to clean your other All-Clad cookware until they are all clean. Once you feel confident that the pans are clean, take them outside and rinse them in very hot tap water. Allow them to dry in a well-ventilated area before replacing them in your kitchen cabinets or storing them for later use.

How Do Remove Stains from my All-clad cookware?

To remove stubborn stains, simply preheat your oven to 400° Fahrenheit. Spray the bottom of your pan with a non-stick cooking spray and let it sit for 10 minutes. Place the pan in the oven upside down so that any remaining food residue will burn off. Once finished, carefully remove your pan from the oven, let it cool down, and then clean it with soap and water.
